Is your class reunion a few weeks away and you feel you look a little too chubby? Do you have a date next week and need to get rid of some extra pounds? Are you trying to slim down for upcoming job intereviews? If you ever find yourself in a jam when it comes to losing some extra pounds, you can use the tips below to shed some weight quickly enough to meet some tight deadlines. The truth is much of the weight you carry around is excess water which can be handled quite efficiently by the following quick methods. Of course, to minimize the risk of health complications, you have to make sure you eat a healthy well-balanced diet. At all times, make sure you eat lots of fruits and vegetables and nuts. You can eat moderate amounts of other types of foods. Moreover, when using these methods to lose weight quickly, you have to remember that you need to consistently do them; doing them several days in a row and bingeing several days in a row is not going to result in much progress for you. The good news is that there is some sort of weight loss law of inertia that kicks in once you start modifying your lifestyle. The law is as follows: it takes a lot of effort to start but once you get going, it gets harder and harder to stop. So put in all you’ve got in starting and keep pushing yourself to keep going. Eventually, you’ll reach a point where you’ll feel really guilt when you stop and binge. Eventually, your new lifestyle becomes a habit and your weight loss will be steady and sustained.

Skip Dinner but Drink Lots of Water

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Focus all your nutrient intake for that meal. Have a big breakfast if you want. The good news is that since this meal is the first one of the day, your activities for the rest of the day serves to burn up the calories you consume during breakfast and lunch. For lunch, you can eat a light or heavy meal. However, if you choose to eat a heavy meal, make sure you have lunch before 1PM. Skip meals after 1PM. This means no dinner. If you feel hungry (and you will) after 1PM, try drinking lots of water. If you still get hunger pangs, eat a few pieces of fruit. Don’t eat anything processed. Don’t eat any salty or oily snacks. It’s going to be rough for the first week or two, but once you have turned this into a habit, you won’t miss post-1PM meals at all. Remember, the hardest part is starting. If you keep going, your new lifestyle will develop momentum. Keep this up for a few days and you’ll start seeing results. Keep at it and you’ll keep the weight off.

Reduce Salt Intake

A lot of your extra weight is stored water. Your body needs a certain level of salt to keep this surplus water. If you get rid of the excess water, you get rid of excess weight. Keep in mind that this tip is all about getting rid of excessive water not reducing your body’s water level to unsafe levels. Those are two totally different things. This means you still need salt for normal health but you have to get rid of excessive salt. You do this by avoiding professed or canned foods. These have high sodium content. Reducing salt also means not using the salt shaker. Most of the meals you eat either at home or at restaurants already have salt. You don’t need to add extra salt. It takes a while to get over our salt addiction but with enough practice, your tongue gets used to a low salt volume that anything with excessive salt will taste unpleasant to you. Again, the secret is to start and keep going until it becomes a habit.

Reduce Carbohydrate And Sugar Intake

One of the most effective ways to lose weight in a short period of time is to reduce your intake of highly processed starchy foods like rice, flour, pasta, or white corn meal. The key here is the color. If the grain is highly processed, much of the fiber is taken out and only starch is left. Starch is simple carbohydrate like sugar. Avoid it. It goes straight to your gut because instead of burning fat, your body will burn the carbohydrates. As a result, you don’t slim down. It takes some getting used to but a low carb diet can be greatly helped if you eat more fruit and vegetables. These have carbohydrates too but they are complex carbohydrates and are packed with antioxidants and fiber.
